Invasive plants
The threat that never makes a photograph.
Nobody donates to a photo of a bluegum. Alien invasive plants have none of the drama of a snare or a poacher, and they are quietly one of the largest threats the dome faces. They drink the water table down, crowd the indigenous grassland out, and change what the land can carry.
The work against them is exactly as tedious as it sounds: cut, treat, return, cut again. A cleared slope is not finished — it is a slope that has to be walked again next season, and the season after that, indefinitely. Miss two years and it is as though nobody was ever there.
Which is why this front needs steady support more than it needs a campaign. Volunteers and clearing days move real ground, and every hectare held is water left in the system for everything else.
